"Emma Berrien Heard Howell (Mrs. J. Mc. Howell) (sister of Mrs J. H. Kilpatrick) Principal Dawson Institute 1863-65 and 1880-88, White Plains, GA"
A gift from her granddaughter, Betty Howell Traver. Her notes on reverse: "She (E.B.H.H.) was a graduate of Southern Masonic Female College in Covington, Georgia. I have her literary society (early sorority) gold pin. She was 4'11" tall. She died during the 1918 flu epidemic in Cuthbert, Ga, living with unmarried daughter Eva and bachelor son John J. Howell II, editor of the Cuthbert Leader."
