Dear John Howell,
After retrieving the above, I regret to tell you that you are way off on this Olivia Ann also. There was an Olivia Ann Mitchell who married Madison Porter McCarty (born circa 1808).Ho was the only son of Daniel Lee McCarty and Ann B. Yerby. Daniel Lee McCarty was the son of Hannah (Lee) Corbin and a liason with Dr. Richard Hall. Olivia Ann Mitchell was daughter of a very wealthy Robert B. Mitchell (married three times). Olivia Ann Mitchell McCarty was born circa 1820 and died 9 Sept 1860 in Richmond County, Virginia. Kathleen Much thinks that you got this erroneous material from a Worth Ray. Too bad. I think Olivia Ann McCarty may actually have existed--she's supposed to be the daughter of the Daniel McC who died in NC in 1782. If I recall correctly, Olivia is mentioned in his Lincoln Co, NC, will. She would of course be completely different from Olivia Ann (Mitchell) McCarty 50 years later.
I do question the middle name, however. It was *extremely* rare for colonists of English descent to give a second Christian name to children before the Revolution. In fact, I know of only a couple of cases. People who had middle names almost always were named for a forebear (usually a grandparent) and had a family surname as the middle name.
It is also impossible for a woman born 1760 to have a child born 1750. Either Olivia's birthdate is several decades off, or John Johnson b 1750 was not her son.
I'd say a LOT of verification is needed before this family tree is posted again. And online family trees are NOT adequate documentation.

Top of Form 1 Holliday/Willingham/Johnston/Ayers Posted by: Curtis Holliday Date: January 14, 2001 at 13:35:23 I would like to share info on the Holliday, Willingham, Johnston, and Ayers families who lived on Little River in the late 1700s and 1800s. William Holliday Sr. married Ann Ayers and named a son Ayers Holliday b.ca.1760. Ayers married ca.1791 to Olivia Johnston, daughter of Samuel Johnston and Olivia McCarty of Columbia Co. After Samuel Johnston died his widow married Thomas Willingham. Ayers Holliday left Lincoln Co. ca.1808 and settled in Marion Co., MS.
