RECORD OF THE HOWARDS FOUND IN THE HYDE CHAPEL RECORDS. OBTAINED ON VISIT OF PAUL L. HOWARD AND WIFE ANITA IN 1974
The Howard family originated in the Hyde Gee Cross area of England. There are records in Hyde Chapel earlier than 1700 and still records of Howards through 1956 so some of the family remained in England besides those who came to the United States.
John Howard (1760-18314) and wire Mary (1773-1867) were the parents of James Howard (1796-1887) who married Jane Shyrock (1812-1872). Records show that at least four sons did not come to the U. S. and are buried in Hyde Chapel Cemetery. Also, one daughter, Charlotte, remained there and their grandaughter, Edith Peover still lives in southern England with her husband Bert Peover. History shows the following known records of the James Howard family. James' Sons - John James, Charles, William and Thomas came to the U. S. Daughters Charlotte, and Mary Jane and sons George, Joseph and Wright remained in Hyde.
