  Newspaper article - County Times Record, Jan 31, 1990 -- "Ella Murphy celebrates 101st year.  Denton - Ella Howard Murphy celebrated her 101st birthday last Thursday, Jan. 26, 1990 by receiving relatives and friends at her home on 2nd street.  Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1889, she moved to American Corner at the age of 5.  In 1912 She married Lacy C. Murphy.  In 1916 they moved to Denton where she has lived in the same house ever since.  Her daughter Sarah lives in the house with her.  Mrs. Murphy says she has no special secret for her longevity.  She said she eats little red meat and likes vegetables.  She received many presents of cake and candy for ther birthday.  She said she would sample them all.  Mrs. Murphy's nephew is George Murphy, mayor of Easton.
