- Newspaper obituary (unknown paper) transcribed copy mailed to me by Patricia Taylor in Aug 2006:
"Owen C. Blades, 87, a well known citizen of Caroline County, died at his home at Choptank Thursday morning. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:00 tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon and intererment will be made in Bell Mont Cemetery, on the home farm. The Rev. Mr. Collins, pastor of the Choptank and Grove M.P. Churches, will officiate, Mr. Blades was a scion of an old Caroline family, a son of Isaiah and Milcha Todd Blades. Through his mother he was related to Mary Todd, wife of Abraham Lincoln. He married Miss Rhoda Fountain, of Caroline, sixty-five years ago. She survives with the following sons and daughters: Alva F. Blades, of Choptank; George V. Blades, of Milwaukee, Wis.: Mrs. Clarence Smith, of Hurlock, MD.; Mrs. G. I. Ditty, New York; Mrs A. E. Cooper, Baltimore."
