    • She married William Porter before 1815. William was born in Somerset Co., MD about 1760. William was the son of John (Gent) Porter and Margaret Baird. William died after 1814 in KY. This is possibly the Revolutionary War Patriot, Somerset Militia, 1778.

William is shown in 1783 with "Hog Quarter" 100 acres, with 1 male and 0 females. In 1798 he has "God Rain" 25 acres, "Hog Quarter" 16 acres Dividing Creek. (1798 Direct Tax, p. 39)

William and Sarah Porter sold 10/17/1794 "Widow Change" in E. Princess Anne District to William Davis Allen for 5 shillings. Sarah became possessed at the death of Jane Strawbridge, daughter of William Strawbridge, in right of her grandmother, Mary Williams, half-sister to Dr. William Strawbridge along with "Conviency, "Addition," "Little Less," and "Leach." (Ruth T. Dryden, Somerset Land Records; Woodrow T. Wilson, 34 Families; notes of C. Hayward Marshall, Sr.& William Marshall Scott; Descendants provided by Dan Trimble)

William moved to Woodford Co., KY about 1814 and sold all of his property to his brother, John, for $3,000, including 300A "Porter's Purchase," "King's Glade," "Tick Ridge," "Addition to Tick Ridge" and "Hog's Quarter". (SOD:JP2:353; "Polk Family & Kinsman" - notes of Becky Miller)

William's children were named in the will of William Whittington and would have been the children by his wife, Margaret Whittington. It is not known if he had children by wife, Sarah Williams. [4]
