EDWARD BLAKE THOMPSON, senior member of the firm of Campbell, Thompson & Company, investment bankers, of Toronto, was born at Medford, Ontario, July 31, 1881, son of Alexander and Isabella (Milne) Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was educated in the public schools of Medford, and after graduating from high school at the age of seventeen years, he entered the banking world as a junior clerk in Molson's Bank at Medford. His natural aptitude for the business of banking soon disclosed itself and he remained at Molson's for twelve years, filling various positions in the Medford bank, and being stationed at different periods of time at St. Thomas, Kingswell, Woodstock, and Trenton, Ontario.
In August, 1910, Mr. Thompson came to Toronto and established the firm of Campbell, Thompson Company. This house has been extremely successful and having an established reputation for safe and ec servative methods, is regarded with favor by leading bankers throughout Eastern Canada.
Mr. Thompson is a member of the Deerpark Presbyterian Church. He is an ardent devotee of golf a belongs to the Rosedale Golf Club. He also ho membership in the Ontario Club, the Granite CI] Canadian Club, the Empire Club, and the Canadian Club of New York. Mr. Thompson's home is No. 34 Parkwood avenue.
Mr. Thompson married, on November 2, 1905, Magaret Campbell, daughter of the late John and Mi (Smith) Campbell, of St. Thomas, Ontario. Mr. & Mrs. Thompson have four children: Alexander who is a student at Upper Canada College; Isabell; Edward; and Phyllis. [4]
