Born March 13, 1898 at Ameri- can Corner near Federalsburg, she was the daughter of the late Benaiah Tharp and Georgeanne Crvonno CoaHars On Oont 19 1Q19 she married L. Claude Howard. He died Oct. 5, 1959." |

"She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School and a 1917 graduate of Maryland Normal School in Towson. She taught at Nichols School for several years. She retired from Puncke Insurance Agency in the 1970s. Mrs. Howard was a member of Union United Methodist Church, the Berea Bible Class, Circle Mary, and was a member and received special missionary recognition from the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Nanti-coke Chapter No. 64 for the past 65 years, and served as their Worthy Matron in 1934. She was a past president of the Caroline County Farm bureau and served on its Ladies Advisory Board, and was a past president of Caroline Homemakers Club. Mrs. Howard is survived by three grandchildren, Connie H. Blanchfield, Patricia H. Glessner and Melinda Hagedorn, all of Federalsburg; five great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A son, Lawrence Claude Howard Jr., died Nov. 15, 1961. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 20 at Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, Federalsburg. Burial will be at Hill Crest Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday form 7 until 9 p.m., where there will be an Eastern Star service at 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Union United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 156, Federalsburg, Md. 21632." |
