James L. Payne - Obituary from Denton Journal

Mr, James L. Payne, one of Caroline county's well-known citizens, died from the infirmities of old age at the home Mr. William J. Willis, in Talbot county, on Monday last. The burial was held at Grove Methodist Protestant Church Wednesday morning last, interment taking place in the cemetery near. Mr. Payne was eighty-seven years old. He was a native of this county and spent practically all his life in Caroline. His wife died a number of years' ago. Surviving children are James T. Payne, Samuel Payne, Mrs. Anna Love, widow of the late W. T. Love.
