      "William Paul Davison - Halifax Herald 12/5/2003 - DAVISON, William Paul - It is with great sadness, a loving husband and father passed away December 3, 2003, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, following a lengthy illness. Bill was born in Bridgewater, April 1, 1918, the younger son of Frederick and Josephine (Wyman) Davison. He graduated from Bridgewater High School, where he played baseball and hockey. He attended Maritime Business College, followed by employment in the Income Tax Department. His service in the West Nova Scotia Regiment during the Second World War was in England and Holland. Following his discharge, he worked in the Income Tax Department for 25 years and the Excise Department for 20 years. He served in the Militia Reserve Army as Captain Paymaster in the Pay Corps. He was a popular speaker in the Toastmaster International and a member of No. 25, Scotia Branch Legion; a member of Edgewood United Church, and he attended services at Bridgewater United Church. Bill was an avid tennis player, having played tournament in the South End; Waegwaltic; and Bridgewater Tennis clubs. He bowled and keenly enjoyed all sports. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Dorothy Louise (Hebb); sons, John, Ottawa; Paul, Halifax; friend, Tim MacKay; his sister-in-law, Carmita Fetterley; nieces, Anne Tipler, Toronto; Joan Conrod, Halifax; cousins, C.D. Davison (Jackie) and family, Catherine Leavitt and daughter Pam, Victor Killam and family Stuart and Catherine (the children of deceased cousin, Henry (Joy) Davison. He is also survived by many good friends and kind neighbours in Westmount Subdivision, where he had resided for 54 years in pride of place. He had a deep love for Bridgewater and his many friends in Lunenburg County. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Michael Banks for his compassion, care and attention during the many visits to home and hospital. To Dr. Orville Hayne for his compassionate care in the treatment of lymphoma. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Diane MacVicar officiating. Interment will take place 2 p.m. Saturday in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. It is Bill's wish for family flowers only, although donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses or a charity of the donor's choice.
